A 16-bit 4'th Order Noise-shaping D/a Converter

چکیده
A 16-blt oversampllng D/A converter has been designed uslng a 4'th order all-dlgltal noise-shaping loop followed by a 3-blt D/A converter. The 3-blt D/A converter, which employs a novel form of dynamlc element matchlng, achleves hlgh accuracy and long-term stablllty without requlrlng preclslon matchlng of components. The harmonic dlstortlon of the untrimmed monolithic CMOS prototype D/A converter Is less than -90dB. Thls multl-blt noise-shaplng D/A converter achieves performance comparable to that of a 1-blt nolseshaplng D/A that operates at nearly 4 tlmes Its' clock rate.
